The Worst Nightmare

Resident Evil Outbreak Series storyline is completely messed up but there are useful evidences to approve or deny some facts and by this way it is possible to know the truth happenings with him. First of all, David, like any other character, is not a part of all scenarios. It is a type of "noobism" thinking this way or, even worse, thinking the eight characters follow together from the whole way until leaving the city helping each other and passing by the all ten scenarios. It is completely ridiculous and non-sense because nobody get along with all the others. The scenarios David lived were Outbreak, Hellfire and End of the Road only simply because there is no evidence showing he is part of others. Additionally, if the storyline of a scenario changes to something non-sense when playing as him, it is because he is not part of it. End of the Road and Decisions, Decisions are ending scenarios that show the city's destruction. In other words, they happen practically at the same time so, nobody can be on both scenarios at the same time. Once being an essential character on End of the Road scenario, David appearing as an AI partner on Decisions, Decisions is a mistake on storyline or simply game. No good or bad ending of this scenario is his real fate.

It does not matter if on Outbreak scenario game play appears less then 10 people inside of J's Bar. There are exactly 10 characters involved on it because nobody can simply disappear from a building completely surrounded by zombies. This is the only scenario which everyone is involved. They go to Jack's bar, one of the most famous bars of Raccoon City, after leaving their business to do some overtime when the Outbreak happens; it is Friday night and David is one of these people. After a hard day of work, he goes to the bar to drink some beer before going home. He sat on the last stool, the closest to the restrooms, and remains quiet; consequently, he is a little far from the others. The closest people around him are George who is on his right side next to the small kitchen of the bar, Alyssa who is sat behind him and Yoko when she passes behind him going to the restroom. The journal announces an incident on a football match but he does not care about it. He keeps drinking his beer and relaxing until the moment an uninvited guest arrives at the bar. After Will being attacked by it, many others appear to crash everyone's party and then the race for survival starts. At first, this situation is just a joke for him "City of monsters? What a Joke." This is the only moment everyone help one another and inside the van, the crazy situation just lived makes him think about how naïve he was.

After escaping from the bar, small groups follow different paths. David probably follows Alyssa to the Apple Inn because it makes sense him, her and Yoko being part of this scenario once they appear as AI partners. So, as he and Yoko follow Alyssa, it is possible that she leaded the way to the hotel but the main reason why David is part of the Hellfire scenario will be shown soon. It is also possible the involvement of others on this scenario once this is a "free" but there is no evidence to show this. Considering he was helped by the policeman who drove the van on Outbreak scenario, in this scenario a second person appears to help him - the fireman. He is the responsible for opening the front door of the lobby in order to rescue the survivors inside of it. This is the time when the situation turned into an ironic joy or a stupid game he could not explain but certainly something that was not right once the whole city was overtaken by the chaos. His wish is to see when it is gonna end.

What never changes and makes sense is the key for knowing what is true and what is not. Most part of the time, everything that makes sense on a scenario follows an unchangeable movie. In other words, Yoko is alone on Below Freezing Point scenario, Alyssa is alone on Flashback scenario and David is alone on End of the Road scenario because any change on chosen characters does not make complete sense once nobody else appears on opening movies which are unchangeable (Cindy on Wild Things was not considered because she and George share mutual help to each other and Kevin also helps her so, they can appear as an AI partner if an evidence for this exists). The old story that they lead the survivors to these places is just bullshit or an unsuccessful attempt to show that everyone leaves the town. It is worth to remember that Outbreak storyline is incomplete for some characters and they will only escape in a reasonable way when Resident Evil Outbreak File#3 will be released. Anyway, there are only two characters that follow each of them but once nobody appears around Yoko and Monica on their talk, this is because nobody is there. David and Alyssa are very similar characters mainly in what refers to independence. They follow their way by themselves without any help. Nobody leaves the cabin in order to let Alyssa and Al talks in particular once they are the only characters that appear on opening movie of Flashback; they are simply not involved on the storyline of this scenario because when playing as one of them, nothing else makes sense. Alyssa is the only who runs after the truth and her insatiable hunger for information leads her to the most extreme places. Therefore, it is completely reasonable that she is alone throughout the whole scenario.

With David, it is no different. He is the only character who appears at a laboratory of Umbrella Corporation helping Carter until the moment Linda arrives on the opening movie of the End of the Road Scenario. He fights against a zombie to protect him and receives a reward for saving him. Linda invites him for escaping by the helicopter which is waiting for them. Just for remembering purposes, David works alone and he is not followed by anyone. Mark and Yoko are the only characters that follow him but Yoko goes with George to the University on Decisions, Decisions scenario and then she meets Greg moments before reproducing the Daylight - the movie Greg and Yoko just happens when playing as Yoko or having her as an AI partner but the storyline becomes complete having her as an AI because George is the character most involved on it and the only called to go there. If Mark was part of End of the Road, something similar should happen but it does not happen. There is no evidence showing this. Another character will never be invited and if there was someone else involved on the scenario, this character should at least appear around Carter, David and Linda on Waiting Room during the moment Linda invites him for leaving the town but it does not occur. He is the only character involved on the storyline because when playing as anyone else the scenario will start not making sense; the first and main reason why he does not die.

The laboratory David is in is completely locked and when the incident with fire overtaking the place occurs, the front door is closed and it remains the whole time locked. This situation turns the way out possible through two ways - the east exit or the underground. Linda goes to the Examination Room and Carter to the Observation Mezzanine. After entering their respective rooms, both of them lock their doors and then just a small area of the laboratory is accessible by the corridors; an area which nobody can simply disappear because there is nowhere to go on a laboratory which is completely locked or in fire. The first door to be opened is to the Examination Room where Linda is. Therefore, David disappearing when not chosen is another non-sense event. He is an incredible man but not able to pass through locked doors or fire; the second reason why he is the main character and consequently does not die.

Linda is looking for an exit while Carter is preparing the Tyrant to be released in order to get rid of the hunters or "green freaks" that escaped from their cultivation tanks. Linda does not find this a good idea but he goes on and the Tyrant is reprogrammed to kill the hunters he finds on his way. Linda opens a new path using her card and the way to the East Exit is guaranteed but they cannot escape because the Tyrant turns against them. He apparently knocks Carter and drops Linda to the underground. Carter, in an unsuccessful attempt of reaching his Bomb Switch, is apparently killed by the Tyrant and the switch also falls to the underground. The way to the underground is just one and it is always opened by the main player. In other words, David cannot reach the underground before the others unless by a non-sense way which cannot be considered true. This is the third reason why he is the main character and does not die. The fact that he dies on North Waterway and becomes a zombie when not chosen is purely a stupid game because he cannot die where he cannot be. I have already pointed three non-sense events that happen to him when he is not chosen; this is the forth.

Another thing to remember is that David is unstoppable after figuring a goal; a goal Linda provided him. This is another reason why playing as him makes completely sense because he fights to the end to complete his goal. David and Linda are partners since from the beginning and thanks to mutual help they leave the town and survive after this. Linda is the only person who knows the cure for the T-Virus. Once he is infected, he needs to save her not just because of this; it is as a question of honor for accomplishing a kind mission. Their partnership is something involuntary because he cares a lot about her when he finds her alive at the Drainage Area and after she is shot in front of Apple Inn by the sniper. When he enters the hotel, he asks her if she is OK and also recognizes that the place was in fire some time ago. The ad-lib "Wasn't this place on fire?" does not occur frequently but it is the evidence that he was there before, during Hellfire scenario.

Mines cannot be buried on pavement so, when he says he cannot see the mines is another non-sense event which is purely game because it is perfectly possible to see them over the streets or sidewalks through the way to the helicopter. David is not fool so, he knows exactly the importance of the Bomb Switch, the most effective weapon against the Tyrant.

Final Conclusions

David does not die because all the logic events on the game show he lives, and not because I want. Considering that George learned the formula of the Daylight, David is a hero who saves the only person who knows the cure for the T-Virus after reaching the helicopter; a goal previously assigned. He is a survivor because not even CAPCOM is able to kill him properly. Additionally, the meaning of an epilogue is showing what the character did before the incident. So, he gained a chance of keep writing his destiny after done an immense struggle for this.

Many times I mentioned that David prefers to work alone. This is true because during the End of the Road scenario (and possibly during the Hellfire scenario) he is practically by himself the whole time but nobody can escape and survive without any help. He was helped by policemen, the fireman and Linda mainly after the incident. She cures his infection and some time later, his epilogue happens.

About the truck left in the highway... Well, there are many people around them while they are watching the "fan finally busting" that could not arrive in the middle of the highway which is completely surrounded by forest. So, it is perfectly reasonable that they used the truck to leave the town because its keys are on contact and anyone else involved on the scenario messes the storyline. Without a near residential area, they could not appear on that place unless teleporting from one place to the other like David does when not chosen. In other words, these are just non-sense events which are purely unreal.

In order to tie up some few loose ends, George, Yoko and probably Cindy escape through the Decisions, Decisions scenario. George is the only invited but Yoko is also a part of this scenario as previously said and thanks to the mutual help he shares with Cindy, it is perfectly possible she following him everywhere but both woman as AI partner. Any other main character will cause a non-sense event because like David, George cannot arrive where he is found hurt before the others because there is a locked door going to the Back Square and the elevator does not work. The characters who escape through the End of the Road scenario are David, Linda and Rodriguez, the pilot of the helicopter because any other character causes some non-sense events throughout the scenario which cannot be considered true. Nyx is probably a question of game in order to not allow you escape easily through the highway in case of missing the helicopter. Additionally, on Death's Door scenario of Umbrella's Chronicles, the same Tyrant who is set free by Carter runs after Ada Wong along the Highway as she tries to reach another helicopter similar to the one Rodriguez pilots that is leaving the town. The time between she reaching the helicopter and the explosion of the city would not allow a battle and the heat of the explosion would also not allow anyone to escape on time. So, "Up and away with Linda" by David King is certainly the most complete and reasonable storyline for this scenario.

The non-mentioned character on this list of people who escapes are useful exactly to show that Resident Evil Outbreak storyline is not complete. They are not involved in any of the two ending scenarios showing that the series needs more games to show how other characters escaped. David does not lead the way to the others; he walks alone. If there are more characters on Decisions, Decisions, they are left behind because there is enough space for 4 on that the helicopter and one last thing to think about is that the only bad ending that can make some sense is Kevin and Jim but like I said before, they are not involved on ending scenarios.
