The Outbreak Timeline

It’s possible play with any combination of characters during the game but there is a reasonable sequence of events that deserves special attention and must be brought to surface. A lot of unsuccessful attempts of explaining the game forget to consider some basic points: no character is part of all scenarios because they are random and some of them occur at the same time; opening movies and other peculiarities that happen with one character only are extremely relevant; and lack of logic thought leads to fails. This timeline is objective but everything can be justified on Nightmare and True Memories (on Guardian-Angel). All this content is unique but very similar to Biohaze.com is some points that probably the only site that really tried to understand the series before writing anything about it.

Outbreak

September 25th, night. The situation on sewer galleries becomes critic while ten people are at J’s Bar during the end of the day – eight of them relaxing after working and two bartenders. The mess goes to the streets and surprises everyone. Bob feels bad and faints while Will is attacked by a stranger costumer before the place gets surrounded by many of them. Yoko is the only who is at the female’s bathroom in this moment. The rush for survival begins. Will is attacked by zombies and dies. Others follow the way up until the rooftop once it’s the only way out. Bob doesn’t resist and suicides on the rooftop; others are called by the police to evacuate. By the elevator of the next building, they reach the street and join Raymond. The officer is also attacked by zombies and before getting murdered, he orders everyone to release gas of the parked truck and burn those zombies. By the sewer galleries, they reach the Apple Inn and meet another police officer that takes them to another place apparently safer. The group then gets separated in small groups. Some of them go to the Main Street help policemen detonate the explosives set along it and while some of them go with the van, others go by foot following nearby alleys.

Hellfire

Alyssa, David, Mark and Yoko use alleys to arrive at the back part of the Apple Inn Hotel. An accident at the Boiler Room kills two firemen – Charlie and Len – and destroys the way back. Part of the hotel is taken by flames and the situation makes the way out even more difficult. The front door is broken off by other firemen that were sent to the local in fire setting everyone free. While they thank one of them, it’s possible to notice that the city is still being taken by chaos.

Wild Things

Cindy, George, Kevin and Jim arrive to the back gate of City’s zoo. Cindy reads the order placed at the board in front of the restaurant – written by Raymond – and they decide to cross the zoo to arrive at the front gate where a supposed chopper would be for rescuing people. The main attraction of the zoo appears to welcome them and they soon discover that animals were also affected. Pursued by the elephant in some moments, they are obliged to fight it before get inside the train stopped at the station. The trip is interrupted in the middle. A destroyed chopper appears in flames while zombies keep walking on streets.

Underbelly

Running by the city’s streets during the morning of the following day, September 26th, still in the middle of the mess, Cindy, Kevin and Jim finds refuge in one of the subway stations of the town. The place is not safe and little by little, one of the exits is revealed. The car stopped at the platform can be used after powering it and separating the attached car. Jim discovers that one of his colleagues was killed by some kind of creature that appeared at the station. Kevin gets the notebook with a password to his desk on RPD office written in it next to his friend’s body. The car stopped on rails moves after supplying energy and crashes against wreckage blocking the exit of the station. After taking care of flames, and let the car ready to go, the mother flea appears to disturb them. After fighting it at the tunnel, the voice coming from the platform announces the departure but they cannot reach in time. The exit to the city’s streets is taken at night by the ventilation tower.

The Hive

During afternoon, George goes to the Hospital with Yoko and Mark looking for a shelter but he soon notice that the situation there is no different. His friend Hursh suggests them to leave the place and moments after this, he is attacked by infected leeches and pursues everyone.

Flashback

In the same morning, Alyssa goes towards the forest where the chaos has apparently not arrived yet looking for info and as the name suggests, she has several records about a past happening involving her partner Kurt as she runs through paths on forest (following an old guy named Al) and certain rooms of the abandoned hospital. Several files reveal mysteries of the local as well as reasons that leaded to the closure of the place; the use of illegal medicines provided by Umbrella is the main one. In the limit of the love for the wife and craziness, Al pursues her the whole time with an axe through the hospital. The truth comes to surface and the plant that releases the body of Dorothy Lester after being destroyed turns the structure of the building weak and it falls down in a little time. After this happening, Alyssa is not seen anymore, suggesting that her escape route – even not shown – have been around the forest that she had just returned.

Desperate Times

In the afternoon of the same day, Kevin returns to RPD with some survivors where he meets Marvin, Rita and takes knowledge of their plan of evacuation. He and others are called to help opening passage by the old ventilation ducts at the fountain for Rita moves ahead and ask for help. While waiting her return, Marvin order others to gather weapons and get ready once zombies are about to break off the gate. Moments after the invasion, Rita appears for rescuing them but Marvin decides to remain and protect the precinct.

Decisions Decisions

In the afternoon of September 31st, George is at the underground parking of RPD reading a memo of his student who calls him to the University because he supposes that just George will understand his discovers. During his walk to the University, Yoko and some other survivors follow him. Some documents related to the daylight reagent, which had Greg’s hand, comes to surface. George finds his student dead and then the rush after the three ingredients start. The last one is collected with the help of Nicholai Ginevaef once he is the person that shoots the blood-collecting capsule – “T-Blood” – on Tyrant’s shoulder before it attacks UBCS members. All ingredients are put at the incubator on 3rd floor and Greg appears one last time at the Second Hall. After talking with all survivors, he talks with Yoko in special, trying to make her remember certain past events. Who defeats Tyrant is uncertain but George and Yoko are the most knowledgeable to this role and consequently leave the town cured. Once Cindy and George shares a relationship, it’s possible that she had followed him the whole time. Kevin and Jim may have helped them but they are left behind still infected. Missiles appear on sky with the sun rising.

End of the Road

At the night from September 31st to October 1st, Rodriguez and Linda argue inside the helicopter landed at the remains of the Main Street before she takes the way back to the laboratory. Arriving at the place, Linda finds David fighting to protect her work partner – Carter – and is almost hurt but everything ends up – or begins – with a hand shake with the plumber. Linda invites David to go on helicopter with them but an internal incident locks the laboratory with those three people inside of it. It’s very clear that nobody else is involved. Therefore, David is the only who can help scientists to move to the East Exit. Carter has the idea of reprogramming the Tyrant and set it free to get rid of hunters that overtook the corridors but the inevitable happens. The scientist is killed by the BOW, the capsule is broken and Linda is dropped to the underground with the bomb switch and the only way becomes the facilities’ sewer. Nothings else left besides escape. With his strong personality, David accomplishes his mission. Back to Apple Inn, help Linda – who had just being shot in the leg – and reach the chopper is the only way out in sight and how things end up. Missiles appear at the sky while Rodriguez leads the chopper out of the town with the container as planned.

Out of the Town

After the incident, David King is seen at the Port having a brief talk at the phone before leaving the country on the “Silver Star” ship. With arms laid on its border, he looks the sun rising and smiles. Linda Washington goes with Yoko Suzuki to the court. The student helps to put and end on Umbrella Corporation. George Hamilton goes on a business travel while Cindy Lennox dreams with a new home for the couple rebuild their lives.

Notes

Scenarios focused are Outbreak, Below Freezing Point, Flashback (even being mentioned just in this timeline), Decisions Decisions and End of the Road. Therefore, information about other scenarios may occasionally be arbitrary or incomplete. As it’s shown, some characters are not involved on any ending scenario and this is a reason for another game to explain better their destinies. Games of Outbreak series are confusing, incomplete and dispose of some fails but all this sequence of happenings has a well-defined logic and can be completely justified. Anyway, there are three references besides the games to be consulted as well as the email for any doubt, critic, suggestion or whatever else related to the site and its contents.
