David, Yoko and Respect

It is difficult to say the main reason for the existence of this website because there are many important reasons to take into account but I consider that my love for them leaded me to create the first shrine for them because this small word has a very rich and strong meaning.

Creating a website involving two characters is a difficult job because what happens in most of them can be perfectly expressed as hypocrisy or “fans” disrespecting what characters are to do whatever they want with them. The meaning of fan found on any dictionary is “a person who admires someone” and admiration means "affection, respect". Respect to what the other person is, is essential for any kind of relationship including fan-idol or else this relationship does not exist. David and Yoko are a canon pairing simply because it is not necessary to waste time creating crappy stuff or several unreal contents to satisfy certain sexual fantasies or even evoking misunderstandings by creating non-sense writings about one of them or kill one of them to put them together because they go along with each other without any external efforts and everyone can see this.

I worked hard for not committing the same mistake as others have already committed. This following section was created based on evidences on the game. All content is aftermath based on their walkthroughs. Many things are already imagined our accepted by fans since a long time ago. Perhaps this introduction can be ridiculous or useless for those people who already know about everything I reported but there is a lot of random foolishness around and reinforcing that things here go exactly as they are because this is valid.

The Guardian and the Angel

First of all, it is important to notice is that they have different personalities but share some mutual tastes; this is probably the best situation to allow some interaction between two people. They are different from each other in several ways: past experiences, ways of being, ways of dealing with people or with the situation, skills and behavior in general as consequences but they are readers of Japanese comic books and they are involved with martial arts.

At first sight, the name of this shrine resembles the special protective behavior David has with her. It is special because he will not remain on her side the whole time as she does with him. He is always following her and will be at the same room as her but he will frequently stay far from her walking along the room and will not attend all of her requests the time she wants. His job when having her around is protect her, so he will look for weapons, gather them if he finds and go on a fight against an enemy that might appear. He is not too helpful with her as she is with him but he will wipe out the face of the enemy from the area she is. Of course it’s possible to control him when playing as her changing items and sometimes giving him some orders; he helps a lot but he does not offer her full attention. So, here is probably one of his few weak points but in part, his behavior with her is correct. Among all that craziness, it would be better survive before trying anything else. Therefore, he behaves in a similar way as a warrior fighting how he can in order to guarantee her safety and give her a chance of escaping. Splitting the compound word Guardian Angel in two words, the real reason for choosing this name is revealed.

Yoko is cute, sweet and fragile girl but she is also brave. Her bravery does not allow her to handle efficiently a fight against enemies. Her abilities are for self-protection and she will simply dodge an attack or push an enemy a short distance away from her. She is not a fighter, so she needs an extra protection against threats that might appear around her. Her shyness, beauty and mainly the innocence behind her eyes resembles the figure of an angel. Her innocence also comes with her Japanese name which means “Sun Child”. Yoko is a pure figure; she is a person dedicated to her studies who does not possess any kind of malicious thoughts and does not have hate feelings on heart for anyone. Therefore, Yoko is the Angel.

David is the moody plumber with a violent past. He is exactly what she is not: personally and physically strong, fierce, rough and quick-witted. But, he is someone who decided to change his life and fights for this every single day. Every feature he acquired for bad purposes is what turns him into a warrior when he uses them for good purposes: self-protection and protection of his partners mainly Mark, Alyssa and Yoko in a special way. He does not remain the whole time next to her probably because of he is a little afraid of showing his real feelings to her but he allows her remain on his side the whole time. David is not in charge of protecting people. David is a trusty person but his dark background could be at first enough proof to deny it. His violent past is not a reason to keep her away from him because she knows he is strong and decided to change his life. Additionally, David is fascinated by Japanese Culture and History and Yoko is a Japanese descendant; this is the main reason why they go along together helping each other. There are two words that can express perfectly their relationship: respect and trustiness with each other. Love and Protection are simply consequences. David is commonly known as the Lone Wolf but nobody was born to live an entire life alone; not even him. He is strong-hearted but his soft side is expressed with her only. No other woman calls his attention in this way or suits him like her; Yoko is unique and his behavior with her is comparable to a true bodyguard. Therefore, David is the Guardian.

When talking about David and Yoko together, everything suits perfectly because one completes the other like positive and negative. David is what Yoko is not; Yoko is what David is not. Yoko needs who David is; David likes who Yoko is. This is aftermath or a reasonable projection of their future based on several suggestions and evidences easily found in the game. They are survivors of Raccoon City and it is extremely difficult to imagine his future without her because as previously show, they have everything to be the perfect couple.
